In the year of 2018 many talented individuals passed away. Stan Lee, Penny Marshall, Burt Reynolds, Mac Miller, and Aretha Franklin all have passed on, however their hard work didn’t go unnoticed.
Stan Lee
Born December 28 1922 Stan Lee was a comic book writer, editor, and publisher. He best known for creating Marvel Comics. Lee co-created many fictional superheroes including: Spiderman, Ironman, Hulk, Captain America, Ant-man, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther to name a few. He retired in 1990 however, still made cameo appearances in each movie. Later on, Lee was inducted in Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame for his comic book work. He died November 12, 2018.
Penny Marshall
Born October 15, 1943 Marshall was an actress, producer, and director. She got her start playing Laverne DeFazio in the television show Laverne and Shirley. Marshall was nominated for three Golden Globe Awards including best actress for her portrayal. Her first directing gig was the movie Jumpin Jack Flash which debut in 1986. She later directed Big which became the first film directed by a woman to gross more than 100 million dollars at the U.S. box office. A few projects she produced were Cinderella Man and Bewitched . Penny Marshall died December 17, 2018 due to heart failure.
Burt Reynolds
Burt Reynolds was an actor, director, and prouder born February 11, 1936. Reynolds rose to fame starring in television series such as Gunsmoke, Hawk, and Dan August. He later transition into movies with his breakthrough role Lewis Medlock in Deliverance. Other roles Reynolds played include: The Longest Yard, Smokey and the Bandit, Hooper, Semi-Tough, etc. Later on in his career, Reynolds was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Booger Nights. He died September 6, 2018.
Mac Miller
Malcolm James McCormick was born January 19, 1992 and was a famous American rapper, singer, and record producer. In 2010 Miller signed a record deal with Pittsburgh-based indie label Rostrum Records. His first album Blue Side Park reached number one on the US billboard top 200 chart. In the year 2013 Miller started his own record label REmember Music. Later in the month of March Miller was featured on Ariana Grande’s single The Way. In later years the two dated. Miller died of a drug overdose in his Studio City September 7, 2018.
Aretha Franklin
Aretha Franklin was an american singer, songwriter, civil rights activist, actress, and pianist. She was born on March 25, 1942. At the age of 18 Franklin started her recording career for Columbia Records. However she didn’t get her big breakthrough until she signed with Atlantic Records in 1966. At this studio she recorded song such as: Respect, Chain of Fools, Think, Natural Women, I Never Loved a Man, I Say a Little Prayer, etc. The Queen of Soul became her nickname by the late 1960’s. Franklin died at her home on August 16, 2018
